Author and poet who was the first woman in Europe to earn a living through writing. She is best known for her advocacy of women's rights and virtue, particularly in her works like "The Book of the City of Ladies" and "The Book of the Three Virtues". She also wrote poetry, a biography of Charles V, and military treatises.
