Description:
A devastating bubonic plague pandemic, ravaged Europe, North Africa, and Asia in the mid-14th century, killing an estimated 25-30 million people. It was characterized by the bacterium Yersinia pestis, transmitted primarily by flea bites on rodents, and also by the air. The disease manifested in three forms: bubonic, septicemic, and pneumonic.
