Description:
A major European conflict from 1740 to 1748, primarily fought over the succession of Maria Theresa to the Habsburg lands. It involved most of Europe's major powers, including Austria, Britain, the Dutch Republic, Russia, Prussia, France, Bavaria, Spain, and Savoy. The war was triggered by Frederick II of Prussia's invasion of Silesia in 1740 and ended with the Treaty of Aix-la-Chapelle in 1748.
