A major European conflict from 1740 to 1748, primarily fought over the succession of Maria Theresa to the Habsburg lands. It involved most of Europe's major powers, including Austria, Britain, the Dutch Republic, Russia, Prussia, France, Bavaria, Spain, and Savoy.
