Montgomery Bus Boycott (dec 5, 1955 – dec 20, 1956)
Description:
Bus Boycott throughout Montgomery, Alabama - led by MLK through his "non-violent" approach following Rosa Parks' arrest. Bus companies in Montgomery lost thousands daily as roughly 40,000 blacks rode busses within Montgomery on the daily. The boycott ended after 13 long months of blacks figuring out alternative ways of transport in hopes of change with the U.S. Supreme Court finally deciding that segregation on public busses is unconstitutional.
