Description:
This was a period of political and social upheaval that changed French society. The people were unhappy with inequality, high taxes, and the absolute monarchy they were led by. Classical liberalism was shaped by things such as the Declaration of the Rights of Man, which emphasized individual rights, and the Napoleonic Code put in place by the military leader Napoleon Bonaparte protecting personal freedoms.
