First Tuareg Rebellion (jan 1, 1962 – jan 1, 1964)
Description:
Due to rising tensions shortly after Mali gained independence, as well as a belief of northern Mali residents and some groups of southern Algeria and northern Niger expecting a Tuareg, Berber, and Arab independent nation to form, an insurgency began. Conflicts lasted for two years along North-Western Africa, ending in a ceasefire after government responses effectively cancelled the rebellion.
