Description:
The Battle of Iwo Jima was the last battle between Japan and the US. After relentlessly bombing and grenading the island of Iwo Jima, the island finally fell. At the end of the battle, 1 in every 3 American Marines that were fighting were killed or wounded, and 23,000 Japanese people either fought to death or committed suicide. It was a turning point in the war because it was the last fight between Japan and the US, and it ultimately led to the downfall of Japanese Troops.
