Schools During 1970's (jan 1, 1970 – dec 31, 1979)
Description:
Schools began to use signing methods that matched the grammar and syntax of ASL. This method is called total communication. It is used simultaneously with speech to aid in communication. This method is not its own language unlike ASL. This method probably made the Deaf community feel upset. It is almost as if hearing people were dumbing down their language. The language was now broken and very confusing.
