Occupation of Alcatraz (nov 20, 1969 – jul 11, 1971)
Description:
This was a major event that established a fight for Indian Rights and activism. 89 American Indians occupied Alcatraz and demanded that Native American people be given Alcatraz under the law of "Treaty of Fort Laramie" which stated that all retired federal land be returned to Native American people.
