O Canada (Kevin Ma) (jun 24, 1880 – apr 1, 1908)

Description:

The French O Canada version was written by Sir Adolphe-Basile Routhier and Calixa Lavallee (he is a famous French Canadian singer) sang the song on June 24 1880. O Canada probably was heard by English people around 1901, when school children would sing the song to the higher class British people (Queens, Kings, Prince, Princess, and etc). In 1906 Whaley and Royce published the translated version of Dr.Thomas Bedford Richardson. That caused Colliers Weeklymagazine to made their English version of O Canada in 1906 and made a competition to write the English version, which made people to create their own English version of O Canada. There were tons of people who created their own English O Canada, but Mr.Justice Robert Stanley Weir was the one who created the one the official National Anthem are based on.
