Jacquard Loom (jan 1, 1804 – jan 1, 1805)
Description:
Even though this machine may not be a computer or even related to mathematics, its creation heavily impacted the creation of computer and the way that they were made over time. The Jacquard loom was a textile weaving loom and it was often referred to as the first information processing device. Once receiving a card punched with holes, the operator of the machine could control the motion of the rods and therefore alter the pattern of the weave. The loom was also equipped with a card-reading device that acted as an automated system.
