Spanish American War (apr 21, 1898 – aug 13, 1898)
Description:
This war was fought between the Spanish and the Americans during the year of 1898. This war ended Spanish rule over the Americas specifically, Guam, Puerto Rico, Cuba, and finally the Philippines. Ultimately, the peace treaty that was signed to end the war gave these countries to the United States. The United States allowed Cuba to remain free but, took control over Puerto Rico, Guam, the Philippines. In the end, the United States came out of this war as a world power politically, and militarily.
