Reconstruction (nov 21, 1865 – feb 14, 1877)
Description:
After the Union victory of the Civil War, the reconstruction process of both the Union and the South began. The economy of the South as on the verge of collapsing, along with decreasing land values and the worthlessness of confederate money. The president created the 10% plan where 10% of a state's voters took a loyalty oath to the Union as long as the state made a new constitution. People didn't like this plan because they believed that the South should be punished. Next came the Freedmen's Bureau which helped to give supplies, food, and land to freed slaves.
