Yalta Conference (feb 4, 1945 – feb 11, 1945)
Description:
At the Yalta conference, it was decided how land occupied by the Axis powers was going to be divided after WWII. The Korean Penninsula, separated from northeast China by the Yalu river and formerly occupied by Japan, was divided amongst the US and the Soviet Union. The land north of the 38th parallel of latitude was given to the Soviets, the southern land was given to the US.
