Westward Expansion (may 28, 1830 – mar 1, 1890)

Description:

Westward Expansion was a migration of Americans from the east to the west. What prompted this movement was “Manifest Destiny,” the belief that Americans were destined to settle across America. Unfortunately, a group that suffered from this was Native Americans. They were killed and put into boarding schools where they were forced to learn to assimilate into American culture.

wearing the moccasin and blanket. The task before us was not only that of
accepting new ideas and adopting new manners, but actual physical changes
and discomfort had to be borne uncomplainingly until the body adjusted itself to new tastes and habits.”
