Born on May 1, 1831 in Norwich, Ontario. Emily became the first female doctor in Canada. Fearless knowing that she would get rejected by Victoria College because emily was a female, she worked as a principle until her marriage with John Stowe (a businessman) in 1856.When John got tuberculosis in 1863. She was inspired to become a doctor because of john getting tuberculosis. Emily applied to Toronto School of Medicine in 1867 and the Vice President was shocked that a female tried to get a better education. Because of emily going through so she decided to stand up for women’s rights. Emily is also known for standing up for women's rights.
Emily remained fearless by her detractors and spent her life fighting for what she believed in. She passed away at the age of 71 on April 30, 1903 in Toronto.
