THE BATTLE OF BRITAIN (jul 10, 1940 – oct 31, 1940)
Description:
This was the first defeat of the Nazis. German had an advantage against Britain by bombing their harbors, factories and military structures. However, Hitler changed his plans after Britain sent a small group of bombers to Germany. This allowed for Britain to rebuild their supplies and gave them the advantage. Germany then gave up their plans to invade Britain.
The Battle of Britain was also very significant to Canada. This was the first WW2 event that Canada was involved in. 40 pilots contributed to the Battle of Britain and Canada had provided airbases for Allied pilots to train in.
