Description:
George Macartney (1737.5.14-1806.5.31) was the first British ambassador to China (Beijing). He was one of the famous British politician who was appointed to celebrate Qian Long Emperor’s 80th birthday by British Government in 26 Sep, 1792. The original goal was to open Chinese markets by this celebration, but Macartney failed attempt to establish British-Chinese diplomacy in framework of "Tribute System" in late 1792. (Almost 1793)
