Revolution of 1905 (jan 22, 1905 – jan 23, 1905)
Description:
This was the uprising that convinced Nicholas II to convert the government from an autocracy to a constitutional monarchy and he issued the October Manifesto. Pre-revolution, social groups had expressed their disgust towards Russian social and political systems especially after the Russo-Japanese war. There were liberal rhetoric to strikes and included student riots and terrorist assassinations. These protests and riots eventually got shut down on Bloody Sunday. Multitudes of peaceful protesters got killed in Winter Palace, St. Petersberg.
