World War I (jul 28, 1914 – nov 11, 1918)

Description:

The assassination of Austrian Archduke Franz Ferdinand was the main cause for the start of the war. After the assassination of Ferdinand, Austria declared war on Serbia. Then Russia defended its ally Serbia. Germany declared war on Russia to protect Austria. Then this caused France to declare war on Germany to protect its ally Russia. Germany invaded Belgium to eventually invade France which then caused Britain to declare war on Germany.
at war with Germany. A Russian army was formed by forcing peasants to join. Although the Russian army had a big arm the soldiers were not equipped or trained to fight. Many of them were sent into battle without shoes, food, and even weapons. Nearly 2 million Russian soldiers were killed WWI and about 5 million injured.The Russians blamed the Tsar for entering the war and getting so many of their young men killed. The war had a huge impact on the revolution.
