Bleeding Kansas (jun 1, 1854 – jan 1, 1861)

Description:

“Bleeding Kansas” was when people from the south and north came to Kansas to try and turn the votes in their favor to have Kansas as either a free or slave state. It wasn’t just verbal fighting however, murders and violent protesting took face. This was a result from the Kansas-Nebraska act which was to let the two states of Kansas and Nebraska vote on if the state would be free of slavery or not. This was put into effect because it violated the the Missouri Compromise, the two states falling above the 36/30 line.
