Description:

Abraham Lincoln, 16th U.S. president, was the president during the Civil War. He was a strong proponent of the Northern ideology and was really only president of the northern states, as the southern states seceded from the United States. He signed the emancipation proclamation, which freed slaves living in the south. He was assassinated in April of 1865, just weeks before the Union won the civil war.
