Baby Boomers and Boosted Economy (jan 4, 1946 – jan 1, 1965)
Description:
After the second world war, Canada had a massive increase in population thanks to improving economic condition and increasing need for bigger families. Birthrates had increased since the great depression and they didn't stop until around 1959-1965. Canada's economy was also booming, Canada had spent a lot of money to boost their economy, they built the Trans-Canada Highway and the TransCanada pipelines. The new St.Lawrence seaway was completed which connected the Great Lakes to the St.Lawrence River and the Atlantic Ocean. Canada also enjoyed the benefits of the oil discovered at Leduc, Alberta and the uranium discovered at Elliot Lake, Ontario. The number of new homes that were built had doubled since the 30's and many Canadians were eager to buy consumer products such as the T.V.
