The Seven Years War (may 17, 1756 – feb 15, 1763)

Description:

This war was caused by the unresolved desire for territorial expansion left by the War of Austrian Succession. The French and British both sought to expand their colonial empire. The initial fighting occurred in New France, but then dispersed world wide. The British defeated the French fleet and cut off its commerce. In 1759, the British sieged Quebec and eventually defeated the French. This war demonstrated continuity in the Duropean desire for territorial expansion, and specifically, the growth of the French and British Empires.
