Battle of Shiloh (feb 6, 1862 – feb 7, 1862)

Description:

Through April 6-7, 1862 Union forces advanced forward taking control of the majority of the Mississippi River. Ulysses S. Grant progressed from Kentucky and captured Fort Henry and the Tennessee River. Having the water routes now being completely open, they attacked. This battle cost both sides with costly casualties, the south with 11,000 and north with more than 13,000. This battle was one of the bloodiest with having the Union emerge victorious, also showing the Union how great of a general S. Grant is.
