Description:
The ministries of Ninian, Patrick, Columba, and Augustine speeded up the process of conversion to Christianity among the Celtic and Anglo-Saxon peoples. Monasteries were established to help educate lay people and to establish a native priesthood. They were also given the task of creating manuscripts for educational and ecclesiastical use
