Second Party System (mar 5, 1825 – mar 4, 1853)
Description:
After the split of the Democrat-Republicans, John Adam's son, John Quincy Adams took office. While one of the many opposed to Andrew Jackson, he was one of the few successful within the three decades of this period. Eventually, the Whig Party's lack of a stance on the topic of slavery caused them to split and collapse, as a small remainder failed to hold small towns and cities in polls, as the Republican Party began to take shape.
