South and North Dynasty (jan 1, 420 – jan 1, 589)
Description:
South and North Dynasty is a general designation of the southern and Northern Dynasties. The southern and Northern Dynasties is a period of great division in Chinese history, and also a period of great national integration in Chinese history. It inherited the Sixteen Kingdoms of the Eastern Jin Dynasty and then followed the Sui Dynasty. It started from the establishment of Liu Song in 420 ad in the Eastern Jin Dynasty by Liu Yu, and ended in 589 ad when Sui destroyed Chen. In the Southern Dynasty (420-589), there were four dynasties: Liu Song, Nan Qi, Nan Liang and Nan Chen.
