Fab 5 take college basketball by storm (oct 1, 1991 – jun 1, 1995)
Description:
Michigans recruiting class of 1991 included the top recruits in the country, all of whom were black. There fast tempo, creative play as well as the teams atypical fashion choices for the time were seen as detrimental to the sport and school by some alumni and fans, but their actions warranted national attention and shaped new trends across the country. The Fab 5 also brought light to inequitable rules in the NCAA. Black socks and long shorts are trends started by the Fab 5 that remain in American culture today.
