China using facial recognition for state control over its citizens (jan 1, 2017 – aug 1, 2050)
Description:
In 1984 the regime uses telescreens placed in all places imaginable (and unimaginable too) to identify and continuously oversee the citizens of Oceania. Telescreens can identify people, notice when their heart rate or facial expressions change.
Today in China over half a million of Uighur Muslim minority are being tracked by cameras equipped with facial recognition software. Chinese companies and start-ups are creating a powerful tool that will aid the communist regime in finding and treating disobedient citizens in a way it decides to.
Already in China there are so called "re-education" camps that enprison and torture ethnic minorities. Other notable actions of Chinese regime include organ harvesting of living people that are detained solely for their religion and ethnicity.
A question still remains, however, to what extent will China use its new "recognition capabilities".
