1908-Juvenile Delinquency Act is passed - This act allowed for the juvenile offenders to know their rights, as well as giving them more abilities in court.
1918-Canadian Women win the right to vote - This event affected democracy by giving more then just men the right to vote in federal elections, Canadian women can now also decide who will run their country. Women are not yet considered people.
1929-British Council declares women are now equal to men, and have the title, "Person". - This was a important time during democracy, because now women are equal to men in the eyes of the law.
1931-Canada becomes independent from Britain -This was very important for Canada's Democracy because Canada wasn't able to make it's own decisions as a independent country.
1947-Parliament passes the Canadian Bill of Rights -This was a big part of Canada's democracy, because now every citizen in Canada has equal rights, this would stop Biased court cases.
1969-Offical Language Act is passed This was one of Pierre Trudeau's greatest contributions as his time served as Prime minister. This act makes it so all professional/authorities must speak both English and French .
1974-Multicultural Act is Passed This Act affected democracy by further enhancing Canada's multicultural makeup.
1977-Parliment passes the Canadian human rights act This act stopped discrimination based on your gender/age/religion.
1982-The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms is passed This act affected democracy by introducing Freedom of Speech, equality, and adding to your legal rights.
1999-Canada cannot remove someone from the country based on discriminatory reasons This helped democracy become even less discriminatory towards citizens/immigrants.
