Chris and Bob Herbert put an advert in The Stage magazine looking for five females to form a group.
More than 400 girls audition in London. Finalists Melanie Chisholm, Melanie Brown, Victoria Adams, Geri Haliwell and Michelle Stephenson are selected to form 'Touch'.
Michelle Stephenson quits the band citing family and personal reasons. Emma Bunton joined the group and they change their name to The Spice Girls.
The girls become unhappy with their management team and leave them so that they can have more control over their work.
