Civil Rights Act It said all people born in the U.S. were considered citizens, no matter race, color, or previous condition of servitude.
14th Amendment The 14th Amendment was passed, helping African Americans in their struggle for civil rights.
13th Amendment This amendment abolished slavery throughout the U.S.
15th Amendment FINALLY, African American males were given the right to vote
Plessy vs Ferguson This showed that "separate but equal" is legal.
NAACP This organization's main goal is to ensure rights of everyone and take away racism.
Dred Scott decision. Slaves were classified as property in the South. Slaves were only free in the North.
Lincoln elected. When Lincoln was elected as president, this angered the Southern states; which people believe caused the Civil War.
Civil War begins. The war for controversy of slavery had just begun.
Emancipation proclamation This freed not all slaves, but freed the slaves in border states.
Civil war ends This brought an end to slavery, but what about their rights?
Lincoln assassinated IF Lincoln wasn't assassinated, he would have had complete control over the Radical Republicans.
KKK The Ku Klux Klan, or the KKK, was formed in Tennessee. They tortured African Americans and their white friends.
