1901 - Australia became a Federation >Believed that the Indigenous Australians were a dying race
1967 - Referendum, majortiy of Australians voted to include Indigenous Australians, recognising them as part of their country
1902 - Women were granted to vote in NSW but did not apply to IAs
1929 - Voting made compulsory for Australians, excluded IAs
1962 - Federal Government allows IAs optional right to vote
1867 - Legislation made stating it was illegal to sell alcohol to IAs > provided IAs with Certificates of Excemption
1943 - 2 of 11 members of The Aborigines Welfare of NSW were allowed to be one full IA and one half
1911 - Aborigines Protection Act established > children removed from families > put into either "Kinchela Boys Home or Cootamundra Girls Home for Aboriginal children' = taught farm labouring =taught domestic service =many ending up as servants for wealth Sydney residents
Life Of Protection & Segregation Policy 1830s - 1940s = segregation of Full Natives and "Half Bloods"
Life of Assimiliation Policy (1940s - 1960s) > 15,000 to 20,000 children taken (Stolen Generation) > relocated the Aboriginal people to missions/ stations = couldn't go anywhere without permission =only allowed certain jobs for IAs = idea that eventually IAs would fit into their type of lifestyle
