During this period, the British Empire expanded globally, developing trading posts in different countries.
Mercantile Phase
Oliver Cromwell decides that agressive expansion is best for the empire.
Slave Movement The UK uses slavery as a major source of income for the empire
1865-Slavery outlawed, the British send out missionary parties to 'liberate' slavery, this lead to vast cultural diffusion.
East India Company bought by the British empire, moving assets into the government.
Technological Rivalry Other countries, such as Germany, Japan and the US, begins to develop technology that rivals the UK, no longer being a technological giant.
WWII The Empire is left economically and physically exhausted after WWII. After handing many military bases to the US, Britain is no longer the military superpower. Begins to suck up to the US. Perceived to have no real superpower 'status' anymore.
