Declaration Of Independence
USA declares independence from the British Empire, no longer funneling money into the empire.
USA and Aid
The US in the more modern day uses Aid to maintain its superpower status It does this by strategically moving it's aid relief into needed areas. For example the US will move aid into Pakistan to fight the threat of Islamic Terrorism. Or it may move aid into Egypt to ensure the save passage of US Naval ships through the Suez canal.
Note: Despite the US moving aid into areas that may increase the stability of the area, the area may not change its ideals to that of a more american way. And may instead continue to practise methods that many in america would consider unconstitutional. Showing that instead that this aid is used instead as political leverage.
US TNC's
US companies account for over a quarter of the worlds top 2000 companies. These TNC's will then exploit the poorer countries they are located in for the benefit of the host country. .
Cultural Diffusion
The US has successfully used TNC's to exert a level of cultural control over countries. These TNC's have glorified the 'American Way'. Insisting that this is the correct way to live, because of this, other countries invest into lifestyle choices to mimic this.
Periods
1970-Present Day Intergovernmental Organisations Intergovernmental Organisations such as the IMF (international monetary fund) and the world bank have allowed the US to have a somewhat disproportionate say in the global macro politics. This is due to both organisations running on a 'Dollar Vote' system. Your contribute more, you get a greater say. The US currently contributes the most meaning they hold 17% of the Vote. It also helps that the headquarters are located in the US, with the president being A
Note: With the rise of China, many would argue that China contributes the same, if note more than the US to Intergovernmental organisations. However, due to China being regarded as still a closed door nation, many would dimsiss this.
1945- Present Day IMF Set up after WWII, to ensure that global monetary cooperation is assured between all countries. Would give loans to struggling governments are much lower interest rates than usual banks. A SAP team would enter the country and asses the state of the local economy, if it was fit for presence of TNC's. TNC's from the US would then enter, supplying jobs to members of the country.
Note: As we know, the way TNC's usually operate in foreign countries is that profit is maximised and expenses are minimised. This can lead to human rights violations, and local businesses having to compete with large companies.
Innovation Period The US, now no longer restricted by the Uk becomes a major hub for scientific discoveries such as the light bulb and the ford automobile.
Economic Expansion The US becomes a major exporter of products such as timber and cotton. This massively helps the nation become and economic powerhouse.
