French and Indian War. This was the first major cause of the American Revolution because it put the British in a lot of debt. The war was over the new land in North America, The British supported the colonists and the French fought with the Native Americans. The Colonists eventually won and gained a significant amount of land.

Sugar Act of 1764. The sugar act actually lowered taxes from 6 cents to 3 cents, but there was a reason why they lowered it. They lowered it because people were then forced to pay it whereas when it was higher people wouldn't pay it and they would just smuggle it in
Stamp Act of 1765. Requires an official stamp on 50 different types of documents. It was another way the British taxed the colonies
Boston Massacre. On March 5, 1770, 5 colonists died in a fight that happened on King street in Boston. The angry mob of colonists were threatening the soldiers and the British soldiers fired into the crowd killing 5 colonists
Townshend Act 1767. This act established the right for Britain to tax the colonies. They made it because there was a violent uproar after the sugar act and the stamp act were made because the colonists were frustrated that Britain taxed them even though they have no representation in parliament
Tea Act 1773. British used this to reinforce the 3 cent tax that was currently on tea, but it help to bring an east Indian tea company out of debt
Boston Tea Party, December 1773. Late at night, a band of Bostonians dressed as Mohawk Indians boarded British ships and dumped 342 chests of tea into Boston Harbor, they were protesting the Tea Act that the British made.
First Continental Congress 1774. Colonists met at Carpenter Hall in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to state their complaints to their British
Battle at Lexington and Concord 1775. The shot heard around the world was fired hear and it started the war between the British and the local militiamen from the colonies
Declaration of independence, 1776, the continetal congress agreed to adopt the Declaration of Independence.
