Zacharias Janssen: -Zacharias Janssen created the microscope with the help of his father, Hans Janssen. He later inspired future scientists (Anton van Leeuwenhoek) to create better models of the microscope.
Anton van Leeuwenhoek: -He created his own microscope, inspired by Zacharias Janssen.
Robert Hooke: -He came up with the name "cell" because the cells looked like the cells that monks pray in.
Robert Hooke: -Robert Hooke also discovered that the cell was the basic unit of life.
Matthias Schleiden: -Matthias Schleiden found out that all plants were made of cells.
Theodor Schwann: -Theodor Schwann concluded that all animals are made of cells.
Rudolph Virchow: -Rudolph Virchow proved that cells come from pre-existing cells. This is called cellular mitosis.
Robert Brown: -Robert Brown was the first person to discover the nucleus of a plant cell (really any cell).
