On May 13, 1865, The Civil war came to an end with the North emerging victorious
The north got wind of the black codes and did there best to outlaw those laws. It didn't stop there, the South pass new laws name the "Jim Crow laws"
in the South many blacks were shut out of many jobs that could have helped their lives
a group of white males marched to a jail, pulled the accused (blacks) out of their cells and shot them to death during a lynching party at the end of town.
In Little Rock, Arkansas a group of students named “the little rock nine” gained national attention for their efforts to exercise their civil rights.
The Southern states passed discriminate laws names the "black codes" dispite the North clearly saying they couldn't

over 4,700 lynchings occuered across the United States
less than 39 percent of the Negroes lynched were charged with crimes. Less than 14 percent in 1899.
