Spring 1776- Germain came up with his first plan for winning the war.
August 27, 1776- The American and British armies met in Brooklyn.
December 25, 1776- Washington's army crossed the ice-choked Delaware River in small boats
December 26, 1776- Washington led surprise attack.
January 3, 1777- The Americans captured another 300 British troops at Princeton, New Jersey.
June 1777- General Burgoyne left Canada.
The Beginning Year
Summer 1777- Fort Ticonderoga battle
October 17, 1777- General Johnny accepted defeat
Winter 1777- Valley Forge famine
June 28, 1778- Howe caught up with the retreating British near Monmouth, New Jersey
December 29, 1778, Battle of Savannah- Pitted local American Patriot militia and Continental Army units
October 1781- The Siege of Yorktown; Cornwallis surrenders
September 3, 1783- The Treaty of Paris ended the American war, was signed by King George III of Britain and representatives of the United States of America.
