BASTILLE: Noble aristocrats stormed by mob of Third Estate and taken over (The French Revolution begins).
THIRD ESTATE DECLARES NATIONAL ASSEMBLY: First real form of government declared by revolutionaries.
MEMBERS OF THE THIRD ESTATE TAKE THE TENNIS COURT OATH: The Assembly takes the oath vowing to "not to separate, and to reassemble wherever circumstances require, until the constitution of the kingdom is established".
THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY ADOPTS THE DECLARATION OF THE RIGHTS OF MAN AND OF THE CITIZEN: The first formal Constitution is written by the Assembly, defining the civil rights of the nation. Strongly influenced by Thomas Jefferson working with General Lafayette.
King Louis XVI signs the new constitution: The aristocrats succumb to the desires of the Assembly and attempt to appease them under pressure, but never actually wanted to support it.
The Legislative Assembly is formed: The Assembly has formed its ability to make law and govern through rules it has established.
The guillotine becomes the national form of execution: the guillotine is important because thousands will be executed by it in the witch-hunt in the later revolution.
France declares war on Austria: revolutionaries wanted war because they thought it would unify the country and spread revolutionary ideals.
King Louis XVI is executed by guillotine: a massive win for the revolutionaries in France, and allows the full takeover of the French government.
The Committee of Public Safety is formed: This Committee rules France during the Reign of Terror.
Robespierre starts the Reign of Terror and leads the Public Safety Committee.
Queen Marie Antoinette is executed by guillotine: another massive win for the revolutionaries.
Robespierre is overthrown: the Reign of Terror ends.
Robespierre is executed by guillotine: turned against by his own creation, he becomes suspect of not being alligned with the revolution, a prospect Robespierre deemed was worthy of death.
Law of Suspects is decreed: Thousands are executed by guillotine under this decree, because of suspicion of opposing the revolution.

Napoleon is exiled: he is forced to leave and go to Saint Helena.
