Thomas Jefferson's presidency ends. After being president for two terms, he followed Washington's precedent and didn't run for a third term.
Thomas Jefferson is elected by Electoral College. The vote is 73:65. The election was a tie at first, so Congress Passed the Twelfth Amendment, allowing electors to only be able to cast one vote for the president and one for vice president.
