Since her father confined her, in 1509, Queen Juana remained in a prison-palace in Tordesillas until she died on April 12, 1555, after 46 years of forced confinement and always dressed black, in company of his last daughter, Catalina. According to some authors, Juana and her daughter were mistreated (abused) physically and psychologically by their jailers.
