National Assembly gave some rights to the Affranchis but the Petit Blancs disregarded the laws.
April 1792: National Assembly gives full rights to Affranchis but the fighting continued leading to total chaos.
L'Ouverteure declared himself governor for life.
Jan 1, 1804 Jean-Jacques Dessalines declared Haiti an independent nation.
Léger-Félicité Sonthonax sent from France and gave freedom to slaves who joined him, and as a result the National Assembly ratified full freedom for slaves.
L'Ouverture was betrayed and was given up to the French.
