Harry Truman is elected president with a firm goal to pursue Germany’s reconstruction under criticism.
The allies hold a peace convention, known as the Potsdam Conference and split Berlin into 4 sectors where the each ally (Britain, France, and Germany) controls 1 sector and Russia controls 1 sector.
The allies merge their 3 sectors to begin the reconstruction of Germany.
Soviets exit the Allied Control Council after learning of a plot to unify West Germany
Russia closes all roads, and transportation pathways from west Berlin to east Berlin and announces that all of Berlin was lawfully under Soviet control
Berlin Airlift begins with supplies sent from the American and British sectors.
NATO was founded to promote democratic values that were neglected in eastern Germany.
The Berlin Airlift ends.
