1553 The first temperature measurer( thermoscope) was invented by galileo using water and it's freezing temperature and it's boiling temperature. when the water froze, he noticed that the water expanded, and when it was heated, he noticed that the water contracted.
1654 Santorio Santorio became the first inventor to put a numerical scale on his thermoscope. this was not very accurate, but it was the first thermometer to be used in hospitals that were given a number
In 1654, the first enclosed liquid-in-a-glass thermometer was invented by the Grand Duke of Tuscany, Ferdinand II. The Duke used alcohol as his liquid. However, it was still inaccurate and used no standardized scale.
1709 Modern alcohol thermometer invented by farenheit
1714 Farenheit invents the farenheit scale and the mercury thermometer
1742 Celsius invents a scale based on the freezing point, which is zero, and the boiling point, at 100 degrees
1848 Lord Kelvin invents a scale whith same units of Celsius, but at 0 degrees starting at 0 for absolute zero instead of freezing point. absolute 0 is when atoms diont move any more, so nothing moves forever.
1984 Ear thermometer invented for medical purposes created by Theodore Hannes Benzinger during WWII
1867 First modern medical thermometer made for patients, can measure temperature in 5 minutes, created by Sir Thomas Allbutt
