ROBERT BROWN (1773-1857) -He observed the plant cells - He discovered the nucleus in plant cells - Later scientists that the structure is in all eukaryotic cells
MATTHIAS SCHLEIDEN (1804-1881) -Came to the conclusion that all plants are made of cells
- Based on the conclusions of both scientist the first principle of the cell theory was developed
THEODOR SCHWANN (1810-1882) - A year later concluded that all animals are also made of cells like Schleiden concluded for plants.
RUDOLF VIRCHOW (1821-1902) - Studied the physiology of cells - Concluded that every cell carried out the three vital functions - His work led to the completion of the other two principles of the cell theory
SANTIAGO RAMÓN Y CAJAL (1852-1934) - He proved that the cell theory also applied to nervous tissue - Cajal studied tissue samples obtained from embryos and infants - He observed that the tissues are made up of cells - He was awarded the Nobel Prize
