Rosalind Franklin Key scientist in studying DNA, her research was key to solving he double helix. She studied DNA and took pictures with a x-ray and that pictures was the key to Crick and Watson breaking the DNA code. However, she didn't get any recognition for it.
James Watson and Francis Crick Discovered with the enormous help of Rosalind Franklin that the DNA molecule assumes the structure of a double helix. This was important because now people could understand how it grows and could begin to grow DNA molecules themselves.
Arthur Kornberg Discovered deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) polymerase, a natural, chemical tool which scientists could use to make copies of DNA.
Gregor Medel Determined that parents pass traits down to their offspring, he did not know that genes were made of DNA. He used pea plants for lots of his experiments.
Seymour Benzer Proved that mutations were caused by changes in the DNA sequencing.
