The Society for Human Rights is founded by Henry Gerber. This Chicago org is the first ever gay rights organization!
The Mattachine Society is founded by activist Harry Hay. This gay rights group composed of gay men (who called themselves homophiles) advocated for social acceptance of gay people.
Daughters of Bilitis, the first lesbian rights org, is made in San Francisco.
Illinois decriminalized homosexuality (becoming the first of all the states to do so)
The Stonewall Riots against police in NYC take place. For days, the many gay, bi and trans patrons of the bar face off against the police, who had assaulted them and intimitaded them for several years.
The Gay Liberation front is formed in the aftermath of the Stonewall riot. This gay and lesbian politcal org , as the name says, fight for their own visibily and their rights.
The first ever pride parade is celebrated through the streets of NYC commemorating the one-year anniversary of the Stonewall Riot.
Following a vote, the American Physchiatric Association no longer considers homosexuality a mental disorded!

President Bill Clinton signs the miliary policy known as "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" wich bans same-gender attracted people from serving in the military, unless they don't tell anybody (it also prohibits other from asking or discrimating about soldiers sexual and romantic inclination
Winsconsin becomes the first state to criminalize discrimination based on sexual orientation.
Clinton signs the Defense Of Marriage Act (DOMA), a federal law that defined marriage as only between a man a woman and banned federal recognition of same-sex marriage.
Vermont becomes first state to legalize civil unions between same-sex couples.
Massachusetts legalizes same-sex marriage--the first in US history!
The Don't Ask Don't Tell policy is abolished.
The DOMA is deemed unconstitutional!
SAME SEX MARRIAGE IS FINALLY LEGAL IN ALL OF THE U.S
