Birth of Jiri Kylian in Prague - Father: Vaclav (a banker) - Mother: Marketa (a young dance protege who sold out theatres at age 10)
Acrobatic school: - He was sent to a school specialising in acrobatics - His first love was circus - When the acrobatic school closed his mother took him to his first dance performance
Ballet school : Age 9 became a student at National Ballet Prague
He was accepted as a student to the Prague Conservatory. - Here he encountered one of his mentors, teacher and former dancer Zora Šemberová, "who left a deep mark in Jiří's professional development". - At the conservatory Kylián made his first steps as a choreographer with Nine Eighth's, choreographed to jazz music, and Quartet, to music by Béla Bártok.
Kylián received a scholarship to study at the Royal Ballet School in London. - Kylián met choreographer John Cranko, who offered him to join the Stuttgart Ballet.
He joined the Stuttgart Ballet (Germany) and worked under John Cranko, where he began to work as a choreographer.
At Stuttgart Ballet Kylián started choreographing with Paradox, Kommen und Gehen.
Kylián was appointed Artistic co-director of Nederlands Dans Theater (NDT)
